About

A small studio that builds software the way it ought to be built.

Texas Code Works is run by Dakota, a Texas-based developer who builds the kind of software businesses actually use every day.

Why Texas Code Works exists

A lot of small and mid-sized businesses get stuck between two bad options when they need software. Big agencies are expensive, slow, and hand you off to people you never meet. Freelance marketplaces are a gamble on quality, and the person who built your project is often gone when something breaks.

Texas Code Works is the middle path: one experienced developer who handles the whole thing, from the first conversation through design, development, hosting, and support. You always know who is working on your project, because it's the same person you've been talking to all along.

The goal is simple: build something that works, explain it in plain English, and still be around when you need help a year from now.

What that looks like in practice

The work ranges widely: customer portals for service businesses, online ordering for restaurants, tools that pull data between systems that were never meant to talk to each other, AI-assisted planning and document tools, and image recognition models trained for a specific job.

What ties it together is a habit of starting with the problem instead of the technology. Sometimes that leads to a full custom application. Sometimes it leads to a small script, or a recommendation to use a product that already exists. Either way, you get an honest answer.

How we're different

  • One point of contact. The person you talk to is the person writing your code.
  • Built and hosted in one place. The developer who builds your site also hosts and maintains it.
  • No lock-in. Your code and domain are yours, and you can take everything with you.
  • Written, fixed quotes. No hourly meter running in the background.
  • Plain-English communication. You'll never need to decode a status update.

Let's talk about your project.

Whether it is a fresh idea or something that needs fixing, the first conversation is free and comes with an honest opinion.
