How we work

No surprises. Not in the price, the timeline, or the code.

Every project follows the same simple path. You'll know what's happening, what it costs, and what comes next at every step.

Project steps

1. A conversation

It starts with a free call or an email thread. We talk about what you need, what's getting in the way today, and what a good result looks like for your business. If something off-the-shelf would serve you better than custom work, you'll hear that here.

2. A written proposal

You get a proposal in plain English covering exactly what will be built, what won't, the timeline with milestones, and a fixed price. Nothing starts until you've read it and agreed to it.

  • Scope: features and pages, listed out
  • Timeline with milestones you can hold us to
  • Fixed price and payment schedule

3. The build

Work happens in stages. You get regular progress updates and a private preview link you can click through as it comes together, so feedback happens early, when changes are cheap.

  • Private preview site throughout the project
  • Checkpoints for your feedback at each milestone
  • Changes to scope are quoted before they happen

4. Launch

Before go-live, everything is tested on real devices: forms, payments, emails, logins, speed, and search-engine basics. Then we launch, keep a close eye on it, and fix anything that turns up.

5. Hosting & support

Your site or app runs on our managed hosting, with backups, security updates, and business email taken care of. You get documentation written for humans and a walkthrough of anything you'll manage yourself. Need changes later? Call on us as needed, or set up a monthly care plan. Prefer your own hosting? We'll deploy there instead.

Ground rules

What you can count on.

Prices in writing

Every quote and every change is written down and agreed before work happens.

No lock-in

Your code and domain are yours. Host with us or anywhere else, and take everything with you if you leave.

Responsive communication

Messages get answered, usually within one business day. Bad news gets shared early, not hidden.

Confidentiality

Your business information stays private. NDAs are welcome.

Questions

Process questions.

Existing client? Invoices and payments live in the client billing portal.

Is the first call really free?

Yes. It is a conversation to understand what you need and whether we are a good fit. There is no obligation, and you will not get a high-pressure follow-up.

What if I need changes in the middle of a project?

Changes are normal. Small adjustments are handled along the way. Anything that adds meaningful time is quoted separately, in writing, before the work happens, so you are always in control of the cost.

How do payments work?

Payment terms are spelled out in your proposal before work begins. Invoices and payments are handled through the Texas Code Works client billing portal, where you can see everything in one place.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. If your project involves confidential information, we are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share details.

What do you need from me during the project?

Mostly timely answers and feedback at each checkpoint. Projects move fastest when one person on your side can make decisions. We will tell you ahead of time when we need content, logins, or a review from you.
